Room Bookings & Hire

In addition to the Miners’ Chapel own programme of events and it being open for visitors, the Chapel is also available for hire as a place for performance, music, ceremony, rehearsal and film.

The adjoining Community Hall offers an adaptable space for gathering audiences as well as use as a large room that can be hired on it’s own.

As individual spaces or combined the Chapel and Community Hall can be hired by the hour, with discounted rates for small charities and community groups.

We are volunteer run and it is our volunteer’s deep connection to the Miners’ Chapel that makes our welcome so warm. On hand to help with interval refreshments and ushering, these added extras can be arranged with your booking.

From it’s soaring scale, renowned acoustics and deep sense of time and spirit you feel from the Chapel’s story-filled walls — where music, mining, methodism and memory unite the past with present —  to the light, airy adjoining Community Hall, versatile layouts and well-equipped kitchen; the Miners’ Chapel offers a uniquely inspiring and practical setting for performances, meetings and community life.

Your Booking Questions Answered

The Miners’ Chapel buildings are open for bookings daily  – 9AM to 10PM.

We kindly ask that all general hire activities are finished and the building is fully vacated, and securely locked by 10PM. We can extend opening times until 11pm for large performances in the Chapel.

Always be considerate of our neighbours and especially thoughtful of noise levels if using the Chapel past 9PM.

Yes. There is a well equipped kitchen available for use when you hire the Community Hall and the Chapel for rehearsals.

You will need to bring your own tea and coffee for general hire and bookings.

If you would like to use the oven please book this as an extra.

The kitchen (and Community Hall) is included with any booking of the Chapel for performances. We can provide refreshments at intervals which will be discussed as part of your booking enquiry.

There are 4 spaces outside of the Miners’ Chapel, which we reserve for Blue Badge holders as a priority. These areas also work for loading and unloading event equipment.

For conservation reasons there is absolutely no parking on the granite surface directly in front of the Miners’ Chapel.

Lafrowda Car Park is a short level walk away and it is free to park there.

In the Community Hall there are

Yes. There is wifi in the Chapel and in the Community Hall. We are currently reviewing the consistency and capability of our wifi, so please check with us if your plans rely on there being superfast broadband available.

As a charity caring for a much-loved but hard-to-heat old Chapel, we need to balance keeping costs fair whilst making sure we can cover our bills and keep the doors open.

To do this, during colder months, the Community Hall heating is set on a timer at a steady level, while use of the main Chapel heating is charged separately, based on meter readings, so that groups only pay for what they use. This said, the Chapel is a vast space so we’d always advise you to wrap up warm.

We hope you understand that this helps us look after the Chapel for the whole community — and we are deeply grateful for your support, as your use of the buildings is what will ensure it remains available for everyone.

Hirers of the Community Hall can organise and serve alcohol but we do expect them to have the right controls and licenses in place.

There is absolute no consumption, carrying or storying of alcohol in the main Chapel building.

There is no storage currently available. The limited space we have is already full. We will be reviewing this as part of our planning for the Chapel and hope to have more storage options available in the future.

For one off general Community Room hire and using the Chapel for rehearsals, please use our online booking system – your booking cannot be confirmed until payment is made. All Community Room bookings must be paid in full at the time of booking to be confirmed.  Payments are made securely online via credit and debit card.

For recurring bookings you will be invoiced on a monthly basis. Please let us know if this will not work for your group and we will see what we can do to find another way.

Booking the Chapel for performances will be discussed with you as part of your enquiry but a fee guideline can be found here.

I invited a South African choir from Cape Town to come and perform here. It was a huge success...used more frequently in the same way then it would be a flagship for Cornish culture of historical proportion.
