Hiring The Chapel
Size and Capacity
The Chapel’s performance space is close to 250m2 with seating at ground level and an upper level of tiered in the round pews.
Upstairs the original oak grain box pews – a rare and extremely special feature – once seated audiences in their hundreds. Today we limit our upstairs capacity to 160 people – this is based on everyone having good sight lines to the downstairs level and with the back third of Chapel currently not in use because it is in need of repair.
Downstairs there is fixed pew seating for 240 people.

HOW TO BOOK
Accessibility
There is step free, level access into the Chapel via the Community Hall entrance.
The Chapel itself is almost 200 years old and currently has no dedicated adaptations to improve its accessibility. This means that there is a small step up into pew seating with narrow access and in the spaces that have no pews, there is also a small step.
On the ground floor level there is an accessible toilet, fire escape with ramp and there are spacious doorways and level access into and around the Community Hall.
There is no lift access to the upstairs.
I stumbled on The Miners Chapel in St Just after a recommendation that I check it out, and what can I say? I fell in love straight away! The Chapel. The Hall. St Just. West Penwith. It is an amazing building and has the most incredible acoustics. More than that though, it has an amazing atmosphere and as soon as I stepped through those doors, I knew Hireth (Cornish language meaning longing for home) had to be there.
